For over one year WhatsApp has been planning to introduce Fingerprint
authentication to Android and iOS users, finally it's now available for
all Android users. Although it's been available for WhatsApp Beta
testers for quite some months now.
This feature was earlier rolled out to iPhone users in February 2019, after being announced late last year 2018. And now it's officially available for everyone to activate.
WhatsApp Fingerprint feature has been designed to add extra security measures to your private chats and your WhatsApp account as a whole.
If you activate this feature, it will require fingerprint authentication
before you can have access to your WhatsApp application. Kindly note
that widget content will be hidden if you activate this feature.
Although you can still answer WhatsApp calls and reply to messages from notifications since the authentication of the fingerprint is only required when you want to open the app.
